LEDBURY BLOW AWAY UPTON

Ledbury under 11s continued there fine form with another comprehensive victory , this time it was Upton who found themselves on the receiving end of Ledburys clinical finishing. For the second week in a row scoring 11 tries and conceding nothing in a thoroughly impressive performance of both defence and finishing.

To be fair this was a contest that was always a little one sided , Upton to there credit hung in there but were no match for Ledbury who dominated in all areas of the park and despite the conditions moved  and protected the ball extremely well, which allowed the backs to pull the strings and totally deprive the hosts of any ball.

Ledbury started well when good early pressure from the forwards allowed Evans space and he finished off a smart move which Prestwich added the extras.

From the restart Ledbury pushed the hosts back into there half , good rucking from Hinkley and Rayner put the hosts under pressure and when the ball was moved back a huge hit from Prosser forced the ball to be knocked on and Skittery was on hand to snuffle the ball and touch down and Prestwich added the extras .

There was a break in play following Prossers tackle for the ambulance to arrive to tend to the Upton player , who thankfully was able to walk off ( we all wish him well ).

If Upton thought the break might slow Ledbury down they were to be disappointed . Ledbury ran with great purpose and speed Best and Prestwich linked well and following several good phases , Harris short pass to Hinkley and the back row would not be denied , this try was also converted by Prestwich.

Again from the restart Bandfield went on a threatening run , he was assisted by messers Bennion and Hemingway who cleared out the Upton forwards for Harris to collect and scamper over to score , this try was converted by Skittery.

It was all a bit to easy at this point as the hosts clearly looked shell shocked at the speed and accuracy of Ledbury and from the next restart Ledbury showed there class when Hemingway carried hard , Bennion supported well and offloaded to Prosser the winger held off tacklers to pass to Skittery who added another good team score , which Prestwcih added to bring the score to 42 - nil at the break.

As Uptons Squad was reduced due to injuries Ledbury agreed to lend there opponents some players to help keep the game going and although this helped the hosts , they were still a long way short of threatening the Ledbury line and when Prosser scored twice more to cap a fine individual performance and put the result well and truly beyond doubt.

Ledbury continued to play all the rugby and it was hard to pick any out as all the squad put in solid performances Marriot and Whiles linked up well and Best and Evans were a constant threat in attack whilst Prosser made some huge hits out wide .

There was still time for Hemingway to add his name to the score sheet with a trademark powerful run and it was fitting that Evans who started things off should score a fine individual try to bring the game to a close .
