Ledbury Rugby Football Club Juniors

Match report

25th October 2009

Berry Hill U15`s 17 ; Ledbury U15`s 5

Ledbury U 15`s played their best rugby so far this season on Sunday morning at Berry Hill but were unable to come away with a win.

The Berry Hill pack was very big and played a traditionally robust style, but Ledbury tackled tenaciously and were able to restrict the home side to two unconverted tries at half time.

In the second half Ledbury guarded their line against an onslaught with committed tackling from Connor Howard, Tim Owen and Luke Johnson up front.

Ledbury managed to build some pressure of their own towards the end of the game with Peter Dixon, Alex Jackman and Mike Jeffryes building a platform for Will Barber-Starkey to serve the backs.

Right at the end of the game Ledbury were able to get some points on the board, David Nash had Douglas Bryant and Bryn Edwards lined up on the right, but cleverly switched left at the last minute allowing Joe Critchard to feed the scoring pass to Gabriel Warwick who slinked through the last confused defenders to score.

Coach Alan Dixon, while not wishing to make too much of losing was delighted with the progress and determination the team had shown.

Berry Hill were good hosts and sportingly volunteered a player to leave the field when Jonty Cutter went off to get a ripped ear bound up.
