Bromsgrove U15`s 54 :Ledbury U15`s 5.
Ledbury under fifteens played a difficult game against a well drilled Bromsgrove under fifteens on Sunday morning. It was a case of look and learn as they watched a superb display of how to hit the breakdown robustly, secure and disperse ball quickly to backs who were ready and waiting with an overlap.Ledbury tackled their hearts out with Jonny Bray having a monster game on the other flank to the ever feisty Conner Barber-Starkey,but inevitably Bromsgrove profited with tries. This onslaught went largely unanswered except when the talented Joe Critchard harried after his own speculative kick to pounce on the bobbling ball for a try.
Turning round at half time, Ledbury had a mountain to climb, not just because they were now attacking up the slope, but also they trailed 19-5.
Ledbury could not get points on the board despite some great efforts with Gabriel Warwick destroying a corner flag and a gutsy Joe Critchard pounding into the home side from all angles.Showing great heart, the Ledbury boys never gave up, but somehow trotting back from your own line never feels quite as good as trotting back from the opposition`s and Ledbury will learn, work on their game and get better as they get into the season. Ledbury proved today that they can tackle, with Tim Owen, Louis Woods and Anthony Chung fronting up in the pack and Pete Dixon, James Limbrick and Will English refusing to take a step backwards. In the backs, Dave Nash showed us the perfect smother tackle and wingers Bryn Edwards and Doug Bryant hunted down the Bromsgrove attackers tirelessly. These guys still have the great potential they had before this set back and are even keener now to take to the field to show us what they really can do.
