Pre-seaon News & Club OfficersAnnual Tag Festival a huge Success Ledbury RFC`s Community Rugby Project held their annual Tag Rugby Festival last friday which saw over 400 children for 19 schools decend onto Ross Road playing fields. Schools for the three counties entered the tournament which proved to be a real success and showcase of talent. Director of rugby, Bruce Ruthven stated " This year we have 40 teams present which is far in excess of previous years and the standard of rugby on show is great to see, the children have been working hard over the past few months training up for this tournament, and the competition has been played in great spirit. Well done to all schools who have participated in this years tournamnet and thank you to Westons Visitor Centre for sponsoring the community Rugby Project." The results for the tournament are as follws; Cup Winners - Gorseley Goffs P.S. Cup Runners Up - Ashperton P.S Plate Winners - Much Birch P.S. Plate Runners Up - Bridstow P.S. Male Player of the tournament - Harry Williams fo Ashperton P.S. Female player of the tournament - Catrin Morris Weston Visitor Centre Fair Play Award - Much birch P.S. Pre-season Ledbury RFC 1st Xv finished the season in third place and narrowly missed out on promotion after being defeated by Old Coventrians in the last game of the season. Good luck to Spartans & old Covs in Midlands 3 next season. The 2nd Xv secured champion status and promotion and move into Worcester & Hereford Merit table Division 2. Ledburys D.o.R. commmented "it has been a very succesful season on and off the pitch with good results and record numbers of players being involved in the club who are enjoying their rugby, this stands us in good form for next season" The Family Fun Day which involves touch rugby for all ages, young and old, takes place at Ross Road on Sunday 13th july 2pm. BBQ and beers for players and spectators - lets pray for good weather. Pre-season begins on Tuesday 15th July 7:15pm and is open to all U16/U17 and Senior players. Training thereafter will take place on Thursday and Tuesdays at 7:15pm. Players of all abilities welcome with training tailored for all. For further information contact Bruce on 01531 631 788.
